Ting Tings and Diablos

Today I had a conversation with a new secretary here at school, introduced myself, and found out that her son is named Kai as well. We discussed how she and my parents had each arrived at the name, and also how I didn't really like it much when I was little, because people would always mispronounce it as "Kay." So...segue time! 'That's Not My Name' by The Ting Tings was definitely one of the catchiest songs of last year and I still enjoy it (especially the end of the song) every time I hear it, which given the band's astronomical rise, is still pretty frequently. There have been quite a few remixes of it, and now Dutch producer and Sony BMG label-mate Don Diablo has mashed up 'That's Not My Name' with a track from his soon-to-be released album. It's ravey techno in Don Diablo's usual vein, and turns 'TNMN' into a dark club song. Not necessarily my thing, but I'm sure I'd still dance to it if I was drunk. My favorite remix, though, remain's Tom Neville's take, which pumps even more energy into the original and could get a cranky geriatric dancing. (At least in my imagination. They'd probably just grumble about "Kids these days and their stupid electronic noise crap.")

Bonus: Don Diablo's been taking on lots of rockers lately. Here's the video for a track he made with British indie act Viva City, featuring Don on a destruction rampage.
