Space and Time

Been a while since my last post. Life has been extremely crazy since then, filled with far too much work (too little of which has actually been accomplished), and a most likely excessive amount of partying. The highlight of last week music-wise was going into New York to see Lindstrøm at Studio B in Brooklyn. I hadn't been to Studio B before and it's a really great space. The one problem was that my friend Nate and I arrived fairly early and didn't realize there was no readmittance, so one were inside, we were stuck in the club (and I was stuck with a hefty bar tab for the night). But such is the price you pay for entertainment. The opening DJs were decent, although I got a little annoyed at one point when one of them played two Aeroplane remixes in a row. It just seems to me that if you're playing a DJ set, you shouldn't play two songs or remixes by the same artist right in a row, unless you've somehow blended them to create what is essentially a new piece. Oh well.
Lindstrøm came on a bit after 1 AM and began rocking people out with his own brand of electro-disco. He mixed up songs from his albums and blew everyone away when he dropped the lengthy songs from 'Where You Go I Go Too,' with the title track topping out at nearly half an hour. 'WYGIGT' is definitely moving in a more electro direction from his previous album, 'It's a Feedelity Affair,' which contained more classic disco sounds--funky bass hooks, bongos, cowbell, etc. But it's Lindstrøm, and so it's still an absolute masterpiece. A great show, a great man.
Since the songs off the new album are so long, I'm only postilng the shortest one. This song is less than a fifth of the album, so if you like it, most definitely buy the whole album. Great investment. It will blow your mind.

Should be another busy week, and then back into New York on Friday to see my friend Thomas play at Fontana's with his electro duo Meat Children. Check it out on Facebook and there will be more details to follow.
