It's been a very long absence. (Apologies to artists who've sent me tracks lately, I will get around to them.) Since I last posted, I've had a hell of a lot of work, but that's all in the past now, and barring any unforeseen failures, I am finished with college. I've taken off with friends for the week to Myrtle Beach, SC to relax and catch some sun before heading back to New Haven for another week of celebrations and events with other seniors, culminating in the big graduation day. It feels weird, it feels good, but most of all, it does now feel like it's time.
I'm not going to take too much time away from my friends right now to post, but here are a few of the songs that I've been jamming to the past few weeks and which got me through my 60 or so pages of papers at the end of the semester.
First off, I finally listened to Royksopp's new album 'Junior' all the way through, and I absolutely love it. My favorite track remains, though, the opener, 'Happy Up Here.' Here's the video for it. The Norwegians have turned out another brilliant album.
Next up is another great video. I've started to like The Golden Filter's remix work, and began listening to a few of their original songs, too. The song 'Solid Gold' has a great beat and the video is awesome, when colored smoke starts flowing out of the singer. The masks on the singer and the male star of the video look like they were stolen out of Bjork or Lovefoxx's costume closet.
And finally, the song that I have been obsessed with for weeks now. Passion Pit is getting amped up for the release of their debut full-length album 'Manners,' which should be great and comes out in one week! A little while ago, they turned out a remix of Ra Ra Riot's song 'Ghost Under Rocks' off of their album 'The Rhumb Line.' This. Song. Is. Incredible. Enjoy it, but not too much, or you might need to change your pants afterward. Hopefully Passion Pit will stick around in the remix game, because they've done a damn good job here.
