Fine Wine and Weather

Life has been pretty great the past few days. Senior festivities are in full swing leading up to graduation. My trip to South Carolina was a lot of fun, and it was nice to spend time with all my friends somewhere other than New Haven. The drive down was interesting, as I left with three other friends at 11 pm and drove through the night. I barely slept and then had the morning shift from 6 to 9 am, driving through Virginia and North Carolina. By the end we were all completely loopy. We listened multiple times to a couple mix CDs I had made. One of my favorite tracks that I haven't posted before is from Diagonal Limes' favorite Digitalfoxglove. Can't wait until he turns out some new work.

Then there have been parties, a scotch tasting, and today a tour of the Jonathan Edwards Winery in northern Connecticut to tour the vineyard and winery and sample the vintages (the petite sirah and zinfandel were the best). It was an absolutely glorious day.

Keeping it European, I got in a great track from Englishman Thomas Balmforth. 'Promote Pistols' is really a beautiful composition, with chimes at times giving off an Asian vibe, but always keeping the spirit of the track moving. It's not a dancefloor tune, but it's just a joy to listen to. You can check out his other tracks and pick them up on his web site.

Another English group, Leeds-based Heads We Dance is going to be coming out with their debut album 'Love Technology' soon, and their hype machine is swinging into high gear. The album will be the first to be available for pre-release streaming via an iPhone app and remixes keep coming out. The album should be a great one. Here's the big sound boy from Barcelona, Sidechains', take on one of the album tracks.

And finally, here's a track that's been rivalling Royksopp's 'Happy Up Here' for primacy on my playlists recently. Berlin producer Siriusmo is coming out with a new album soon and he's going to have a winner if his track 'High Together' is any indication. The song is uplifting, fun, and interesting all the way through. The sound is beachy at first, but then the beat drops and it gets much more dancey. Also, for something a little more funky, check out his remix of David Rubato's song 'Circuit.' You can buy Siriusmo's work on Beatport.
